Barbara's Story

CROPWELL - Barbara Lee (Nelson) Noble, 82 passed away with her loving family by her side on August 22, 2017.

She was born August 7, 1935 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of Russell and Cleona Nelson. Barbara graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1953. She married David J. Noble on February 28, 1954 and they were married for 44 years.

In her early years Barbara was an avid water skier and she enjoyed boating and snowmobiling. She spent many summers in Minnesota and Lake Okoboji, Iowa with her family. Barbara was also an excellent bowler and bowled with a league for many years and received a pin for a perfect game. In 1978 Barbara and her family bought a home on Lake Logan Martin in Pell City, Alabama where she became a member of St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church. She served for many years on the alter guild and remained a member until her death. While in Pell City she was a member of the Pine Harbor Dance Club and served on the auxiliary for many years at St. Clair Regional Hospital. Barbara also enjoyed playing and teaching bridge for over forty years. Barbara loved God, her family, the Republican Party and Alabama football.

Barbara is survived by her three children, who live in Alabama, Cindy Noble, Jeff Noble (Rhonda) and Joni Noble; grandchildren, Cody Sapp, Christopher Anderson, Kaitlyn Noble, Elizabeth Anderson and Jonathan Noble; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Sapp, Isabella Anderson and Mary Grace Anderson; a sister, Cheryl L. Boals (Rick); niece, Kellie Connelly (Mike); nephew, Steve Boals (Toni); and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, David J. Noble. The family would like to thank Always There in Home Care and her loving caregivers and St. Martin's in the Pines Hospice.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church, 3702 Mays Bend Road, Pell City, AL, followed by a reception at Louie's Grill, 230 Hamby Road, Cropwell.

In lieu of flowers, donations to three charities Barbara was passionate about supporting would be a wonderful tribute to her, the Christian Love Pantry, 205 Edwin Holladay Place, Pell City, AL 35128; St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church, 3702 Mays Bend Road, Pell City, AL 35128; and the ASPCI (animal rescue), 2631 Martin Street South, Suite 202, Pell City, AL 35128.
