Jo's Story

Text size

Mrs. Jo Ann Wilson, age 73, of Pell City, Alabama, passed away on March 27, 2014, in Pell City. "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."  Psalms 118:24 If you had ever met Jo Ann, you would know that her life was a daily celebration of the joy of Christ.  Today we celebrate along with many others who have gone on before her, the fact that she is finally home.  Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing, love, and faith.  Words seem quite inept to express the depths of our gratitude for the great gifts she gave us just by knowing her.  A kind word, a helping hand, someone who you could count on to pray for and encourage you - these are just a few of the many things for which she will always be remembered. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Lee Wilson. Survivors:  Daughters; Patricia Ann Richey (Jarred), Joan Wilson, Son; Mark Wilson (Michelle), Grandchildren; Dawson & Hailey Richey, Christopher & Matthew Fish, Sisters; Betty Hollis, Patsy Ayres, Peggy Graham, Brothers; Charles Dorough, Johnny Dorough, Wade Dorough, Kenneth Dorough. The family received friends on Sunday, March 30, 2014, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City, with the service following at the funeral home at 2:30 p.m.  Clergy included Rev. Ben Howard, Rev. Donna Howard and Rev. Larry Wimberly.  Burial was in St. Clair Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered online at www.usreyfuneralhome.com. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is death of all His saints."  Psalms 116:15
