Kenneth Lloyd Farmer Sr., age 92, of Leeds, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013. Born in Copiah County Mississippi July 13, 1920, he survived the Bataan Death March and almost three and a half years as a POW during WWII. After the war he graduated from Millsaps College, had a career at Universal Atlas Cement Company and with the City of Leeds. In 1993 he was Leeds’ Citizen of the Year. He served on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Federal Advisory Committee on the Former Prisoners of War, as well as on the Selective Service Board. He was a long-time member and leader in the Leeds First United Methodist church and Civitan International. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lois Patrick Farmer; son, Dr. Kenneth L. Farmer Jr. (Pat); daughter, Pamela Farmer Ferguson (Sean); six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at Leeds First United Methodist Church on Monday May 13, 2013 with burial following in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
