Mary Jean Allison Haskew, "Big Mama", age 82, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with her Savior on December 12, 2012, joining her husband George at the feet of Jesus. A native of Birmingham, born on January 10, 1930, to Major and Alma Allison, she attended Woodlawn High School before marrying the love of her life, George H. Haskew, Sr., on Sept.14, 1946. She raised her children before retiring to a life of travel, gardening, service to the church and fun with friends and grandchildren. She was a member of Argo and Mount Calvary Presbyterian Churches and most recently attended Crosspoint Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, George H. Haskew, Sr., her parents, her sister, Virginia Cole, two children, Johnny Haskew and Vicky Phillips. Left to cherish her memory, are her three children, Terry Robertson, George H. Haskew, Jr. (Ann), and Tracy Summerville (Mark); nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and countless friends. Visitation will be Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 9 AM until service time at 10 AM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the George H. Haskew, Sr., Memorial Fund for Alzheimer's Research at U A B 1530 3rd Ave. S., AB 1230 Birmingham, AL 35294-0112.
