Rosemary Love Hilliard

October 26, 1952 - July 14, 2018

Rosemary Love Hilliard COKER - Rosemary Love Hilliard, age 65, of Coker, slipped into the arms of Jesus on July 14, 2018.
Rosemary was born in Gadsden, Alabama on October 26, 1952, youngest of the four children of Edward Lafayette Love, Jr. (Buddy) and Anne Whitten Love.
Her memories of growing up in Pell City were special. She revered and looked up to her older brothers, Rod and Rick, and shared a special bond with her older sister, Sara Ann. She remembered with love her childhood friends.
Rosemary graduated from Pell City High School in 1971 and pursued a career in court reporting. After some years as an independent reporter, she accepted a position with the State of Alabama as a "roving reporter" across several counties. In 1986, she became an official court reporter for Tuscaloosa County.
She took pride in her job and was admired and respected by those who worked with her at the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse. She was especially proud and grateful to be associated with all the Judges and Justices she served in that role. She cherished relationships at work, and always understood the importance of her role.
Rosemary had one son, Ben Rhodes. She loved him with all of her heart and made sure he was raised to be someone she would be proud of.
She loved her husband Hampton Hilliard and was so happy to have found her soulmate. She loved her brothers and sister and always enjoyed getting together with them every summer for "Family Vacation."
Rosemary loved and doted on her three grandchildren, Jackson, Jacob and Jordyn. She always took every opportunity to spoil them!
She enjoyed and was known for her "finer" cuisine. She liked to garden and be outdoors.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her mother and father; her longtime friend, Sandy Wood; and her brother, Richard T. Love, of Wilmington, NC.
She is survived by her husband, Wade Hampton Hilliard III; her brother, Rodney Love of Elberta, AL; her sister, Sara Ann Love Rast and brother-in-law, Bobby Rast of Hoover; her son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Crystal Rhodes, of Northport; grandchildren, Jackson, Jacob and Jordyn; her aunt Nancy Sansom of Gadsden; 11 nieces and nephews; and 25 great nieces and nephews, all of whom were close to her heart.
A short memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel, 5434 Old Birmingham, Hwy., Tuscaloosa, AL 35404 with a visitation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Research Institute, 55 Broadway, Suite 1802, New York, NY 10006.
