USAF Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Roy M. Glover, Sr. formerly of Odenville, AL died January 8, 2011 at the age of 95. His father was the late William T. Glover Sr. (nicknamed “Fessor”) that served as school principal in the town of Margaret, AL. His mother was the late Lena Caroline Wooten Glover that served as Postmaster at Margaret. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sovola Smith Glover formerly of Odenville, AL; older brother, Clyde A. Glover formerly of Kingsport, TN; younger brother William T. Glover, Jr. and sister-in-law, Lib Glover formerly of Tifton, GA; and younger sister, Ruth Glover Quinn and brother-in-law, Ed Quinn formerly of Moody, AL. He is survived by sister-in-law, Elizabeth B. Glover of Kingsport, TN; son, Roy M. Glover, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Susan Frederick Glover of Homewood, AL; daughter, Dianne Glover Sips and son-in-law, Frank Sips of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; nieces, a nephew, and many cousins. Mr. Glover was born in Birmingham and graduated from what is now Auburn University in 1938 and was on their equestrian team. While in the Air Force, he was stationed at several locations in the U.S. including Hawaii, Colorado, Mississippi, Missouri, and the Pentagon; and several locations overseas. Funeral visitation is 12:00 noon, Thursday, January 13th, at Kilgroe Funeral Home, 1750 Ashville Road, Leeds, AL with the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Forest Crest Cemetery in Irondale. Reverend Richard B. Hanna, Chaplain at Kirkwood by the River and Dr. Edwin G. Hurley, Senior Pastor at South Highland Presbyterian Church will be presiding.
