Funeral Services for Wilmar Key, age 90, were held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, 2 PM, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home.  The family received friends on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home, with burial at the Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Mrs. Key passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2012. Mrs. Key was preceded in death by her parents, William & Annie Baker Edwards; and her brother, Hobart Edwards. She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Raymon Key; daughter, Loretta Brasher (Allen); son, Gaddis E. Key (Linda); brother, W.L. Edwards (Lillian); ten grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild who loved her dearly; a host of nieces and nephews; as well as her special friend, Alene Wallace. Mrs. Key was a devout Christian.  She was loved by all and was known as Mama Key to everyone.  She was very giving; a loving wife, a terrific cook, and she always put others before herself.  She was known for the quilts she lovingly made and gave to her family and friends.  Mrs. Key worked as a seamstress in different places for many years; during World War II she served as a Rosie The Riveter in Mobile. The family would like to extend a special thanks to EastGlen Nursing & Rehab as well as to Comfort Care Hospice for their care and support.  Flowers will be accepted, but if you would like to make a memorial, please donate to the St. Clair County East Gideon’s. Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens, Birmingham, AL, directed the services.
