Ira Charles Franklin
Ira Franklin, 77, passed away at his home in Pell City, Alabama 29 Nov 2019. He was born 18 Oct 1942 in Prichard, AL to Wilbert Ira Franklin and Margaret May "Maggie" (Moore) Franklin.
A graduate of Vigor High School in Mobile, Ira attended Jones Junior College in Ellisville, MS for electrical engineering where he met his wife Ann. They recently celebrated their 56th anniversary. In 1993 he retired as Field Service Supervisor with AT&T and started his own voice, data, and fiber optic cabling business, Media Network Services; retiring for good in 2003. With a superior IQ of 135, Ira was interested in many subjects including Amateur Radio (K4YMQ), geology, genealogy, philately and fishing. He was a member of Stemley Bridge Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife; sister Maxine Williams, Lithia, FL; children Lisa R. Franklin, Houston, TX; Chuck Franklin, Birmingham, AL; Danielle Bautista, Vincent, AL; and Maggie Beth Franklin, Munford, AL; 10 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Jack Coleman and Ray Franklin, and adopted daughter Joy Elizabeth (Chavers) Franklin.

I was blessed to know Ira for many years - took electronics at Vigor -!was my roommate at Jones County Junior College in electrical engineering.

We worked. Together at AT&T -and Bell South

Ira was a very good person and a great friend. I will miss him.
